Ikeja League kick started a new season yesterday in Lagos, fixtures for matchday 1 were played. YG Fc played against Greater Tomorrow FC in a tight clashed match at the Agege Soccer Temple stadium as Greater Tomorrow were beaten by YG Fc by 2:1
It was a match to prove dominance between this two local rivals who have constantly show that in the previous seasons.
The match started brightly for the home side who create much chances but see their effort denied by the Greater Tomorrow Goalkeeper.
YG FC got the lead through a sublime strike by Agboola Kehinde in the 31st minutes to give the home team the lead.
Joseph Phillips scored a well placed penalty kick that was awarded to the home team at the 46th minutes of the. Match. Greater Tomorrow FC could only score a consolation goal when a foul was committed in the penalty box and Shadrack Njogo scored the penalty for the away side in the 74mins.
Awolola Debowale and Nonyem Okorocha were shown yellow card due for their harsh tackles against their opponent.
YG Fc would be happy with their bright start in the new seasons, they have 3 points and will be happy to carry this form in their campaign as the Ikeja league seasons progress.
