The fans at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba were treated to a
highly competitive Super Eagles training session today with Kelechi Iheanacho
giving another reason he could be on the final squad to the AFCON, while Samuel
Chukwueze mesmerised opposing defenders.

It was the first two-a-side training since the Eagles began
training in Asaba Monday ahead of the AFCON in Egypt.

Team spokesman Toyin Ibitoye said: “The trainings have been very
competitive because the coaches wish to knock the players back to shape after a
long and demanding season.

“Everybody is fighting, giving 100%.

“It’s a good selection problem for the coaches.”

“The training was as competitive as a match,” an excited fan
told SCORENigeria

All the players battled to justify their call-ups and intensity
was noteworthy.

Iheanacho, who struggled to pin down a first-team place at
Leicester City, fought hard and on the strength of what he displayed today, he
will be on the flight to Egypt on Sunday.

He has told SCORENigeria he is not under pressure to make the
cut and will prove his doubters wrong again.

Villarreal youngster Chukwueze, who opted for the AFCON ahead of
the U20 World Cup, caught the eyes as he dazzled past a defence of John Ogu and
Semi Ajayi.

Latest arrivals Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi did
not look out of place in the day’s training after they were given permission to
report late.

The Eagles will take on AFCON qualifiers Zimbabwe Saturday
evening in a warm-up game in Asaba.

Kick-off time is 6pm local time.
