Gernot Rohr is hopeful of a better performance in their second match against Guinea in the ongoing match at Afon 2019.
Nigeria strive to win 1:0 against Burundi with a sublime finish by Odion Ighalo. The coach said their bad performance was due to sickness suffered by key players in the squad.
He said ” we couldn’t played better because most of our player were out due to sickness, Burundi were a well organised team.”
” In the first half we couldn’t find our rhythm but we worked on it in the second half and it got better, in our group the game will be tough because this team are like home based team they have nothing to loose.”

“In our preparation, we had big problems because half of the team had virus. In the last session, we lost two players, Jamiu Collins and Samuel Kalu, and that is why we had to struggle so much to win the game,”Gernot Rohr stated.
The 1-0 victory has placed Nigeria on top of the Group B table as Guinea and Madagascar played out a 2-2 draw in the second game of the group.
Nigeria’s next match is against Guinea at the Alexandria Stadium on Wednesday.
