Aiteo cup semi final matches were played today as Tornadoes dumped Rivers United 2-1 in their semi-final, while Kano Pillars stopped Calabar Rovers 3-1 on penalties after both teams played out a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
Both teams will now fight for the top prize on a date and venue yet to be announced by the NFF. Effectively, Tornadoes will win or lose in the Final play in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup after already finished as runners-up in the NPFL and will feature in the CAF Champions League.
Eric Frimpong – younger brother of Joetex Frimpong, shot the Minna side into the lead 10 minutes after kickoff, but Kehinde Adedipe restored parity for The Pride of Rivers six minutes later.
